Band’s Performance Earns the Group a Spot in the Final Ten

The Pride of Alma performs their show “5ive” in the preliminary round of the War Eagle Classic Marching Band Competition in Rogers on Saturday

The Pride of Alma Marching Band took sixth place in a tri-state competition on Saturday.

Twenty three bands took the field in the War Eagle Classic, which took place at Gates Stadium in Rogers.

Five bands from Oklahoma, three bands from Missouri and fifteen bands from Arkansas competed for top honors.

The Pride of Alma performed their show entitled “5ive” which features the music of Dave Brubeck, Mahler, Holst, Maroon 5, and Beethoven. In their preliminary performance, Alma Band placed second in class “D”.

Bands were divided into classes ranging from “A” to “E” based on band size.

The Alma band made the finals with their preliminary performance and performed their show a second time in the final round of competition. Of the ten bands that qualified for the finals, Alma placed sixth.

The bands in the finals competed against other bands from all class sizes.

The Alma band will perform their show again at the Region VIII Marching Assessment at Northside High School Tuesday night.
